This is not your typical Palm Springs vacation rental. Featured in the latest issue of Atomic Ranch Magazine, this one-of-a-kind mini midcentury resort was designed by West Elm (a division of Williams-Sonoma) as a showcase home for Modernism Week 2017, 2019, 2023, and 2025. Totally reimagined inside and out, the home features a private, resort-style yard with an oversized 7’ deep concept pool, integrated waterfall spa, disco lights, tanning shelf, and a raised sun deck offering panoramic mountain views. Enjoy five fire features, three outdoor showers, an outdoor soaking tub, and a covered living pavilion complete with a wet bar, a built-in ice chest, and electric heaters. There’s also a bocce ball court, Corn Hole, and a Universal EV charger (available for a fee). This place is off the charts—absolutely incredible.

The West Elm House 1 - The Alexander was an idea house created to inspire and guide architecture and design enthusiasts in modernizing a midcentury home for today's way of life. It was on tour during Palm Springs Modernism Week 2017 and has been featured in Atomic Ranch and California Homes Magazine. Treat yourself to a vacation in this Living Show Room — the perfect “Midcentury to Next-Century Transformation” of an iconic 1950s home originally built by the Alexander Construction Company and then remodeled by Solterra Builders. The Design Team from West Elm used their product line of organic, handcrafted, sustainably sourced sofas, tables, beds, lighting, and accessories to furnish this classic home (circa 1958).

OUTDOOR LIVING SPACES
Completely walled for privacy, the entire property feels like an upscale resort with its large concept pool area, outdoor living pavilion, game areas, 5 fire features, 3 outdoor showers, al fresco dining, gas barbecue, and poolside chaise lounges. Sophisticated modern style meets 1950s sensibility to create this fabulous outdoor space that certainly has the Wow Factor.

** The pool will be heated upon request with an additional service fee. Please let us know if you'd like to heat the pool so we can ensure it is heated before your arrival. Spa heating is included with your rental at no extra cost **

INDOOR LIVING SPACES
Absolutely stunning remodel. This property has been lovingly restored, respecting its architectural pedigree while updating it for how we live today. The renovation preserved the original open-concept floor plan, clerestory windows, polished concrete floors, and iconic post-and-beam ceilings, while giving it a completely “next century” makeover with high-speed internet access, an updated climate-control system, 4 Smart Televisions, and iPod charging stations. The entire front and back of the house feature movable walls of glass that blur the lines between indoor and outdoor living in true Palm Springs-style.

** The term "Pets Allowed” or “Pets Accepted" at an ACME House Company vacation rental means that we welcome dogs only. No other pets are allowed. **

SLEEPING QUARTERS
All of the bedrooms feature ample storage, flat screen televisions, and comfortable king-sized mattresses by Casper, the latest in memory foam sleep systems. The primary bedroom offers a walk-in closet, sitting area, direct pool access, and an en suite bath with dual sinks and a deluxe shower that connects to the outdoors. The two king guest rooms feature their own courtyards - each with a private firepit lounge area, an outdoor shower, and gorgeous mountain views.

THE LOCATION
This spectacular home sits on a quiet residential street in the Little Beverly Hills neighborhood of Palm Springs - an intimate enclave of 84 single-family homes - all built by the Alexander Construction Company (w/ a few Meiselman's on the perimeter) between 1957 and 1959. This very retro, picturesque, walkable community is bordered on two sides by a golf course. The emphasis here is on easy living in the sunshine. The hustle and bustle of Palm Springs seems as though it is miles away from this sleepy little part of town - but grocery stores, casual eating places, sandwich shops, burger joints, and Downtown Palm Springs are all just blocks away. You can even walk to the Saturday morning Farmers Market or take in an independent film at the local movie house.

Absolutely wonderful stay. Loved everything about it. Hosts were easy to communicate with and the house had everything we needed. The bathroom not in the primary is a little small for four people to share but not a big deal for us luckily. Plus the outdoor showers made things very easy. Would love to come back!

We’ve stayed at over a dozen Airbnbs in Palm Springs and this was one of our favorites! The highlight was the fabulous backyard, so much seating and fun spaces and a great pool for the family to enjoy. The house and rooms were comfy and well decorated and the location was calm and quiet for relaxing. It was great!

We wanted to visit Palm Springs and stay with family members (also visiting from a different city). I particularly wanted to stay in a mid-century modern (MCM) home - not only for the experience, but also to get some remodeling ideas for our own house in AZ. This house, the pool/yard(s) and the furnishings/artwork were spectacular! The immediate neighborhood was fun to explore and we also took advantage of some architectural tours in the area. The house embodies every great aspect of MCM design principles - particularly bringing the outside in and vice versa. It is, at once, cheerful, stimulating and relaxing. What a gem! None of us were ready to leave this house on our last day - and none of us had ever felt that way about a rental property before this one.

My favorite Palm Springs/Desert Airbnb

This is my Favorite Palm Springs/desert Air BnB. The decor and architecture are phenomenal, and it is in an area called "The Beverly Hills of Palm Springs." The whole property has a classic midcentury design, so you have a fully immersive Palm Springs Frank Sinatra experience. Everything is clean and well-designed. The pool was our highlight; it did not need to be heated because it was 115 outside at its highest that week. The perfect backyard for entertaining with many amenities: fire pits, ice machine (outside!), Bar, and pool boy button. It was a delight. The views in this building were immaculate, with floor-to-glass windows. I went with the children, and it was perfect—three good-sized bathrooms with patios (!) and outdoor showers. The neighborhood was safe and quiet, with no nosy neighbors (essential when traveling while Black). I have one qualm that wouldn't deter me from coming back: the beds are hard, so hard. But they are ALL king-size and clean. Would book again.

Long-Term Stays (29 nights or longer):

• 6+ Months Before Arrival: 100% refund.
• 91 Days–6 Months Before Arrival: Refund of all charges except the booking fee.
