This Glass and Steel House is one of Palm Springs’ most respected and admired contemporary homes. Lauded as the perfect example of what’s next in desert architecture and design, this private, gated property has been published in magazines, design blogs and newspapers. It was showcased during Modernism Week, and served as the host location for the annual kickoff reception for the Palm Springs Art Museum's Architectural and Design Council. OUTDOOR LIVING SPACES
Designed for relaxed desert living, you’ll find wow-factor amenities like outdoor showers, fire features and water elements that add to the luxurious appeal of this mini resort. The heated in-ground pool features an integrated spa and tanning shelf, and the west-facing terrace is perfect for catching beautiful desert sunsets as the light fades behind the mountains. There are three outdoor dining areas, a barbecue, and plenty of comfortable poolside seating to accommodate festive group gatherings as well as quiet private moments off to the side. The lush greenery and dramatic landscape lighting compliment the striking architectural design and mid-century inspired furnishings - creating a spectacular, awe-inspiring vacation home that is truly magical.

** The pool will be heated to 83 degrees upon request with an additional service fee. Please let us know if you'd like to heat the pool so we can ensure it is heated before your arrival. Spa heating is included with your rental at no extra cost **

INDOOR LIVING SPACES
The spacious open floor plan features walls of glass, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor living...taking full advantage of the panoramic mountain views. The European chef’s kitchen has been space planned for individual and team meal prep. The entire home has been appointed with luxury upgrades like a whole-house sound system (Sonos), large screen Smart Televisions, state of the art climate control heating and air conditioning, and all the bells and whistles you’ll need to make your stay memorable. An electric vehicle charger is located in the closet in the carport.

** The term "Pets Allowed” or “Pets Accepted" at an ACME House Company vacation rental means that we welcome dogs only. No other pets are allowed. **

SLEEPING QUARTERS
The main house offers one modern Queen and one modern King guest quarters that share a bath and each have direct patio access. The master suite is set apart in the private casita featuring a King bed and direct pool access. The casita has a separate entrance. All of the bedrooms have flat screen televisions and are beautifully decorated.

Located very close to Ruth Hardy Park and within walking distance to the Palm Springs Uptown Design District, Glass and Steel 2012 is an impressive, spectacular property that is well suited for extended weekends, week and month long stays and as a seasonal rental. 100% Refund for Cancellations within 48 Hours of Making Booking.
30 days or more prior to the Arrival date, ACME House Company will process a 100% refund of all Reservation Charges, except the Booking Fee. 
Greater than 48 hours from Booking and between 8 & 29 days prior to arrival, guests will receive a partial refund of 50% of all Reservation Charges, except Booking Fee.
7 days or less prior to arrival, 100% of All Reservation Charges are considered earned.

Glass and Steel House- Ruth Hardy Park

The house is located a block east of Ruth Hardy Park with amazing views of the San Jacinto Mountains. The neighborhood is quiet and a pleasant walk to North Palm Canyon Drive. The landscaping on the property is beautiful, with tall grasses and cacti, citrus trees, and ficus hedging for privacy. The property is well-lit at night. There are plenty of chaise lounges and chairs and outdoor dining areas. The pool, spa, and fire pit are incredible; the design is ideal. The pool also features a sun ledge for two chaises and umbrellas and a 3 unit waterfall, which is tranquil while enjoying the outdoors. The living space is ideal for relaxing and enjoying one's time, and the kitchen is appointed well. The interior is furnished with some nice mid-century reproductions and suits the home. There is plenty of mod-woodwork cabinetry, and the bathrooms are spacious with walk-in showers. Overall, this home is definitely a refurbishing of someone's architectural creation: glass and steel reminiscent of Alcoa's carefree aluminum homes of the 1950s, which I considered a privilege to have spent my sojourn in Palm Springs. I would like to see a bit of TLC in some areas (sun fading, etc.), but overall, it is a lovely home.

Great place. Up scale vibes. It’s a place to entertain, but also has very very very strict rules about sound. I get palm spings is leaning towards older residents, but they beat you to death with noise warnings…Essentially no music outside is recommended. When you have a house laid out to entertain its hard to adhere to this. Was just me and my daughter this trip, so wasn’t a huge concern, but I if brought 3 couples I might check other spots.. what wrong with having music by the pool at 1pm? Anyway. Great spot, cute, cozy, well stocked. Great landscape. The many noise warnings( written, posted, etc) where off putting is all. I would come back though.

Stayed at the Glass snd Steel House in Movie Colony - beautiful home, perfect for my husband, myself our 15 year old twins and Maltese, and perfect location walking distance to downtown Palm Springs and Ruth Hardy Park for twins to play basketball. The home was open and airy, great views of the mountains, inviting pool (heated) and spa, and well appointed details throughout the home - from the artwork, sound/entertainment system, and well stocked kitchen allowing me to make our traditional Christmas morning monkeybread! We definitely all felt right at home and could have stayed there much longer but alas reality called! The bottle of wine and bag of coffee the Acne staff gifted us upon our arrival was such a nice touch and added warm welcome to our arrival. We will definitely stay at Glass and Steel House again on a future visit to the desert.

This is truly a great home -- very clean, modern interior with a great pool and outdoor area. In the heart of Movie Colony and Palm Springs, you can walk to almost everything. The house is very nice and the pool and hot tub are beautiful. The primary bedroom is separate from the main house and the TV set ups are complicated so not ideal for a family with young kids. Great for mature kids or couples.

Overall Comment Overall, Glass & Steel was great. It is exactly as depicted in the photos. Great location as well. There was one negative. We were inundated with warnings to not make any noise outside or you could be evicted without warning. Playing music outside is prohibited at all times. We are a quiet family with 2 young girls. We ended up shushing our kids throughout our stay even though they were just having fun in the pool. This put a bit of a damper on our stay.

Pool is amazing. Location is great. Very good service through ACME. Home was very clean! Had a bit of trouble with the TV systems but they sent someone to help right away. (Recommend adding the sports package to the cable package as the TV did not have ESPN.). Adding a few more poolside friendly drinking cups would be great, and a pillow topper for the beds. Otherwise awesome!

Overall Comment When we arrived we found the house had not been cleaned after the last renters stay! That being said,we contacted Acme and they arrived within the hour with a full on cleaning crew and pool guys. They did an excellent job and we were settled in very quickly. Acme checked back with us during our stay and even sent us a nice wine basket. The home is fantastic and upscale. We loved the design and amenities. Hoping we all can rent this place again. Our experience was absolutely wonderful!!

Overall Comment The pictures definitely don’t do this one justice. We had an amazing time and truly enjoyed pretty much everything about this house and the design. We loved the industrial and unconventional design features, along with the way it was styled to soften everything up and make it work really well. The enclave provides great shelter from wind and sun, and privacy. The hammock was a true delight and a wonderful way to watch the stars, or take a nap. We were one couple, with two adults, and everyone had plenty of space and privacy. The only feedback we’d give is it would be nice to have a King sized bed in the casitas. As a couple, we were a bit cramped in the Queen. The fire feature also felt slightly unsafe and would be an easy upgrade. And the internet service is pretty bad. But none of this should take away from how amazing this place is.

Overall Comment This is a great newer house that offers a rare Mountain View from inside the home. It’s a quirky layout but good for a couple and their dog. AV is overly complicated and there really should be at least one king bed (all three rooms are big enough) but none of that really matters. It’s a great house in in a great location.

We loved our stay here. Being picky, the wifi wasn't functional about 75% of the time, the separate third bedroom didn't work for us because we have kids (trust me - it would be amazing to leave them in the house overnight without us but I'm afraid that would get us in trouble!), and I wish they would ditch the single use plastic toiletries. But aside from that, the process for checking in and communication was informative and organized, the house itself was very clean, the pool was enjoyable, grill worked great, outdoor areas were lovely... we had a wonderful time!Ô

Overall Comment This home was perfect for our stay. Several adults with lots of personal space. There are lots of details that made the stay special, from the dedicated ice machine, to the tanning shelf in the pool, and outdoor showers. The casita was perfect and private. The outdoor space was great for every hour of the day and evening, with a gorgeous mountain view. The neighbour is very quiet and convenient to everything. We even found a pamphlet about the design of the steel house, in one of the shops on Palm Canyon.

Overall Comment We had a great time, the house had everything we needed, spacious bathrooms, easy to get into the property with gate lock and key box. The mattresses, especially in the master bedroom could be a little bigger for couples and the explanation to get the Sonos equipment running was missing. The rest was perfect and really enjoyable. Best Pool Ever!

Overall Comment We've been renting homes in PS twice a year for years now. This home's crowning jewel is the pool, facing east towards the mountains. Great water feature, later water lip, and multiple places to eat outside and lounge. The rest of the house is nice too, but it's all about the outside here!

Glass and Steel House did not disappoint and actually exceeded our expectations. It is very well appointed. We went over the Thanksgiving weekend and got all the goodies at a nearby Jensen's grocery store to make a full holiday dinner. The kitchen was very well stocked with pots and pans, serving dishes and all the cooking utensils you would need to make a Turkey feast. We has a few minor issues that required a phone call and they sent someone over within 15 minutes both times to make sure we were good to go. The location was fantastic. It was very close to downtown by Lyft or Uber and it was a very safe neighborhood.

Great House for a Sunny, Relaxing Getaway!

Overall Comment Our stay in the Glass and Steel House was amazing, we simply couldn't ask for more. The house was immaculate and very well equipped for a family of 4 (and easily up to 6). The house was nice and cool during our mid-July stay and the private pool was a wonderful retreat from the hot sun. We stayed for 5 nights with our two kids (12, 9) which felt like the perfect length of time for a Palm Springs getaway. We were worried about the heat, but the AC and pool made all the difference. The way the pool is situated, there is usually at least a portion that is shaded for most of the day so it's not hard to escape the sun if that's what you want. The property management team was very responsive. We reported one issue with our pool and they had someone out immediately to address it. Our concierge was helpful in directing us to some of the local restaurants and attractions. And the house is just a 5 minute drive from Palm Canyon with a great selection of shops, bars and restaurants. I highly recommend El Jefe if you enjoy Mexican food. We ate there twice it was so good. Koffi or Gre were great spots to enjoy an afternoon latte and Vinny's Italian Ice and Gelato was our pick for a cool sweet treat. The only potential negative we found is that the Master Bedroom (Casita) is detached from the main house, meaning that you have to go outside to get from one to the other. We weren't comfortable leaving our kids alone at night in a strange place, so we ended up using the two bedrooms

Overall Comment Ease of booking and communication excellent - the app made it easy. Excellent kitchen amenities- bonus ice machine. High-end towels and bedding. Ability to control pool and spa temperature made the trip. Beautiful exterior lighting and mature landscaping. Don't skip the AV orientation - the system is complicated. Would have given 5 stars but for the interruptions - the pool guys twice (right during peak pool time) and gardeners who showed up unannounced at the bathroom windows (awkward). Also know the City of Palm Springs has very strict noice ordinances - no music outside and no noise after 10. Overall, lovely home and great location walking distance to downtown.

I just returned from a long weekend vacation with 5 friends at the Glass and Steel House 2012. It is truly an amazing vacation rental because as soon as you arrive you feel you are on vacation. We ended up not going out much because the home was such a wonderful and relaxing retreat. It is very comfortable for cooking, grilling out, laying by the pool, having a slumber party and watching movies. It has a gorgeous view and impressive interior design. The kitchen has everything you need and comes stocked with spices, teas, oil, cooking essentials, etc... Cannot say enough about what a peaceful and gorgeous place it is.

Awesome location, perfect set-up for two couples & a 20-something. Three blocks or so from Robolights - a must see during the holidays. We went twice!! Pool and spa were the best--used them morning and night even in the cool air. I recommend a bit more updated documentation for operating all the gadgets in the home. Would definitely recommend this place.

A cool retreat in the hot desert!

This house was a great choice because we liked the area it was located in, and the modern look of the house. The outdoor area was our favorite part. The pool area was great morning, noon and night! Very comfortable. Biggest surprise was how quiet the neighborhood was. We were there when it was extremely hot (110-120) and the house stayed nice and cool. Was a good place to retreat when not in the pool.
