This very rustic,cute cabin is a gem for a perfect getaway in the mountains. Well-equipped with everything you need including a darling fireplace to enjoy during the cold nights. Evening walks boast an amazing star-filled sky! The town is a short walk or drive away and hikes galore that we really enjoyed. The stairs are indeed steep so you have to be very careful and we noticed the carpeting was coming up which can propose a hazard. The carpet could stand to be replaced and maybe an updated sofa as the futon style was not comfortable. A small tv in the main living area would be a nice addition for couples wanting to cozy up to watch a movie by the fire after a long day outdoors. Overall, we had a wonderful time and we will definitely be back! Thank you!

Very quiet area of town, super clean cabin. Make sure you have plenty of wood for the fireplace if you’re staying in the winter. The gas heat only warms enough to keep the pipes from freezing.

This cabin was perfect! We stayed for the Thanksgiving holiday and it was an awesome experience. We were able to warm up by the fireplace and visit the local tree lighting ceremony. The cabin had a nice thanksgiving gift package for us when we arrived. Check in was easy and the cabin had everything we needed. Would definitely visit again.

We loved our overnight stay here! It's a simple, charming, mountain classic that looks like it hasn't changed in decades -- which I love. Really enjoyed using the fireplace (it got down in the 40s at night, even in September)! Super-convenient to town and gave us the mountain vibes we needed for this last-minute visit to Idyllwild.

The area and the cabin was very nice and enjoyable. Great neighborhood, short walk to the center of town (about 20 minutes). If you are tall like myself (I’m 6’3”), you will need to be careful going up and down the stairs - there is a light fixture you will likely run into on the second floor. Otherwise, the place is just the right size for a cabin in the woods.

Great fireplace. Comfortable furniture. A few suggestions: draughts around entrance doors. Big ole dead tick stuck in screen above sink. No bulb in bedroom small lamp. Put bird seed out. What? No birds? Bottom line. A wonderful 4 days together!

We all enjoyed the property. My only negative was it is about a 0.7 mi walk (15 minutes) to the main part of town but the Mile High Cafe is a few blocks. BUT, being a little further away also made it very quiet. Cute place and seemed well maintained.

The setting was beautiful! The property needs work! The shower floods and hot water last about 4-5 minutes not enough time to wash yourself and hair before turning to cold water! The stairs to the loft are very steep and the railing is only half way up the stairs! Not very safe! The furniture needs updating especially the sofa!

I loved spending the weekend at this rustic little retreat and could imagine living here! It's obviously owned by people who care a lot about the energy of their space, noted by the unique details of the books on the shelves (Walden and the like) and art on the walls, even a singing bowl to clear the vibrations. This cute little cabin was the perfect escape from the desert heat. Conveniently located close enough to town to walk to the restaurants and shops. It boast a large deck for hanging in your hammock or sitting in the stillness of the woods (bring your own hammock or chairs for sitting). The kitchen is small, with an awesome gas stove, small frig and pretty much anything you need to prepare meals. The living room is cozy with a fireplace and windows that open easily to bring in the fresh mountain air. The stairs to the loft bedroom are tight and steep but manageable. there are two beds I believe they are full beds. The mattresses should be replaced sometime soon, they had their day. The bathroom is small and tight with a very small shower (low water pressure). Despite some of these set backs, the cabin is an awesome deal and a great get away spot. Beats camping!!

Second time visiting Walden in the Woods. Being able to grab a quick bite at a nearby diner with friendly staff, go for a quick hike in the snow, and read by a fireplace is a great way to unwind. Idyllwild has a lot of places to explore and already looking forward to the next trip!

We paid a premium for last minute booking over Christmas for a family of 4 adults getaway. It was perfect. Cabin had character ( a holdover 60’s vibe with some unusual art on walls), homey, warm, quiet. Clean but lived in. Management company available 24 hrs a day sent out a handyman same day (Christmas Eve) to fix nonworking oven. All in all very enjoyable stay in a foot of fresh powder.

This is a great little cabin with lots of deck space. Very clean, comfortable, and located close to town. Bring some camp chairs for outdoor seating and something to make coffee with. Other than that it has everything you need.

We live in Palm Springs. The heat was cranking up to 117 degrees we needed a reprieve. We found this little cabin on VRBO, it fit the bill. The rate was great and it was an easy drive, quite enjoyable actually. The cabin is clean and cute. The deck is very large and it sits privately over looking the backyard. The kitchen is small but adequate. The stove is awesome! Keep in mind the stairs are tight and steep. The beds are not the best I have to admit. The shower is tight and the water pressure is very low. It was definitely the best bang for our buck and we extended our stay. The fresh air was the best. We will be back!
