Palm Springs, California – Local REALTORS® have set new fundraising goals for supporting desert charities. Their goal is to double the amount of money they raised last year. The Board of the Palm Springs Regional Association of REALTORS® (PSRAR) has projected that they will raise $85,000 to benefit Well in the Desert, Desert Escrow Scholarship Fund, Boys and Girls Club of America and Sanctuary Palm Springs in 2016.

According to PSRAR Board President, Jim Webb, the Association’s Special Events Committee will continue its Close to Home Community Giving Program by hosting a series of auctions, raffles, drives and events designed to raise awareness and funds for those in need locally. Since 2008, the PSRAR Close to Home Community Giving Program has raised over $150,000 to support its local charities.
“Last year alone we raised over $42,000,” explained Webb. “For 2016 we are doubling our pledge. We are committed to raising $85,000 by December. We have bigger goals than ever because the Palm Springs Real Estate business is strong with a lot of activity. As our desert cities have grown and prospered – so has the Palm Springs Real Estate community. We have the most active membership that we have had in decades. Our committees are stronger and our members are more dedicated to giving back to the community than ever before.”

Next in the PSRAR upcoming series of fund raising events is The Spring Fling Auction, scheduled for Wednesday, March 23 to be held at The Saguaro Hotel and begins at 8:00 am sharp. During the event, PSRAR REALTOR® Members and Affiliates will open heartedly bid on auction items. The more prizes that are donated – the more money will be raised for those in need.

“This year, more than ever we need the support of our local businesses,” said Debra Comer of Acme House Company, who Co-Chairs the PSRAR Special Events Committee with Brian Loth of Orange Coast Title. “In the past, we have relied on donations from regular supporters like Palm Springs Life magazine, The Saguaro, The Desert Sun, and Nostalgia Palm Springs. The list of past participants is long and we appreciate all the generosity. This year, our members have been out in full force knocking on doors and ringing the phones of every business in the Coachella Valley. Gift certificates to local restaurants and shops are always very popular as are goody baskets from local stores, art work, and event tickets. Services like salon visits, poolside massage, and yoga classes also help to raise funds.”

We are just hoping our local businesses and service providers will be even more generous and supportive than they have been in the past.” said Ms. Comer. “Our REALTOR® and Affiliate Members have upped our commitment to supporting these four charities. But we need the help of the entire community. Not only is this a good way for local businesses to help raise money for charity – but it is also a great way to introduce your business to the local real estate community — or to thank the local real estate community for their ongoing patronage.”
