Palm Springs, CA – The Palm Springs Festival of Lights Parade is a coveted local tradition that has consistently been named one of the most popular local events in the Coachella Valley. The Festival attracted national attention when an AOL Survey voted it one of the Top 10 Holiday Parades in the country.
Now in its 24th year, the Parade brings an old town feel…a slice of holiday-fashioned Americana with brightly lighted floats, vintage cars with local and world-famous celebs, marching bands, specialty performers and of course…Santa. Festival organizers are expecting more than 100,000 local residents and visitors from around the world to pack downtown to watch what the City of Palm Springs calls it’s signature holiday event.
The event kicks off at 5:45 PM this Saturday, December 5, 2015. The parade will run north along Palm Canyon Drive from Ramon Road to Tamarisk Road.
There are a few different ways to enjoy the event. Most Parade goers stake their claim on Palm Canyon Drive late in the afternoon, propping up chairs and fluffing blankets to warm up with later. Others who wish to dine and gaze at the movement of lights from a front row seat in style, call ahead to reserve tables at the many restaurants that line the parade route.
Viewing parties hosted by local companies, charities and groups of friends are becoming more and more popular. This will be the 9th year for Art & Gene’s Annual Festival of Lights Parade Party & Toys for Tots Fundraiser, which will be held high above the parade route at Matchbox. A donation of $25 plus a new unwrapped toy will get you into the party where there will be all you can eat appetizers, mini burgers, salads, a pizza bar, soft Drinks and a cash and carry cocktail bar. Holiday & Gay Apparel Encouraged!
Partners in The Bank, John McCoy, Michael Gambill, Laurence Colton and Robert Fountain, are hosting a viewing party at their new Palm Springs Mid Century Event Space located in the historic old Coachella Valley Savings and Loan building.
Acme House Company, the Palm Springs-based vacation home rental management company, is offering a special two night package for Festival goers.
