Welcome to “In Their Words”, a blog series where we dive into the Acme experience from our guests’ perspectives.

Our guests are such an interesting group of tastemakers, creatives, and professionals doing wonderful things in the world. We just love to get their take on what makes the Acme experience so special.

Acme House Co. vacation rentals provides the perfect home base whether our guests are gathering with friends, enjoying some “me time” or getting out and about to explore the Coachella Valley. There are truly as many ways to enjoy a Five-star Acme guest experience as there are Acme guests.

Recently we had the opportunity to talk with Philadelphia native, pharmacist extraordinaire, and official smartie pants Nick Katra about his first visit to the Palm Springs area, which also happened to be his first stay in an Acme vacation home!

In addition to his work as a pharmacist, Nick is a co-founder of Victus Health and Wellness Center, a new multidisciplinary health practice in Philadelphia. “We are dedicated to creating a culture of health for individuals in our community through integrative medicine”, Nick explains. Nick and his team have also started a nonprofit to help cover medical expenses for Victus clients needing financial assistance.

Don’t you just love a philanthropic pharmacist?

The scene was set for Nick’s first visit to the Palm Springs area many years ago as a student at The University of the Sciences in Philadelphia where he befriended two classmates who later married and relocated to Desert Hot Springs. When talk of a reunion under the sun began, Nick turned to Acme House Co. to make his desert dreams come true.

So…What brought you to Palm Springs?
I came to visit my good friends, the Speros!

Was this your first time in the area?
Yes! I’ve been hoping to visit for years and finally made the trip.

What did you love about the Acme vacation home you stayed in?
We stayed at The Kirk Douglas House. The house has a really nice layout and had all the amenities you could ask for including a cool indoor fireplace. The backyard is a great hang out space with beautiful landscaping and a great view of the mountains. We loved how the pool, hot tub, pool table and fire pit all create unique and separate spaces to spend time in.

How did Acme help you work or play during your stay?
Acme really rolled out the red carpet! Communication from start to finish was on point. We found the House Manual really useful - it provided all of the pertinent info about the house and Palm Springs.

Any food or beverage experiences in Palm Springs that you can’t stop thinking about?
Every restaurant we went to was awesome!

Everyone has their magical Palm Springs moment - what was yours?
The Museum Trail hike we did above the Art Museum has some really great views of Palm Springs and is a great workout.

What would you love to do on your next visit that you didn’t get a chance to do this time around?
I would probably do some more hikes, check out different restaurants, get some golf in and visit a hot spring!

Sounds like you’ve got your next trip all planned out! Last question - If a movie was made about your trip, what would it be called?
