New Property
An upscale yet cozy ranch-style home nestled in Palm Springs’ Los Compadres neighborhood, where the cowboys used to roam. Located near Palm Canyon Drive, south and west of the airport (so quiet and less blustery). Features a brand new pool and spa—actually, everything here is brand new—so imagine dining amidst the lush back yard, with sweeping, unobstructed views of the San Jacinto mountains. Sweet, indeed. Beds: K,K,K.

About the property
P.S. City ID #5481 | Primary renter must be at least 25 years of age to rent
Welcome to Hey Sugar, an elegant home in the southern part of Palm Springs. This three bedroom, two bath home (plus game room) is located on a quiet street yet still close to everything. The airport is literally five minutes away, north and east —so no planes flying overhead. Downtown, with all the top restaurants, the casino and entertainment, are just as convenient. However, once you walk through the front doors, you may not want to leave, as panoramic glass doors reveal nothing but mountains to the south and west. Beds: K,K,K.
The backyard is even better: it’s as if the Relaxation Gods hired a set designer. It starts with the gorgeous new pool and spa. Where to go next? There are so many places to gather in the yard, from an expansive covered dining table to the perfect breakfast table, to the cozy coffee nook. Couches sit on either side of the fire pit, next to a bubbling modern fountain. Let’s not forget the daybed (you won’t), overlooking the pool and spa. Visiting in Summer? Everyone has pool heater. Hey Sugar also has a pool cooler.
The owners have worked hard to make the home and yard as nice as possible, but if they had only one thing to say? The mountain views (and when it’s late, the views of the many illuminated palm trees) are hard to beat. From the backyard, or even just looking out the windows from the primary bedroom, you can almost feel your breath slowing. (If you have an Apple Watch, this may be a real thing. Let us know).
Inside, the story continues. A giant mural welcomes you in. Enormous glass windows bring the outside into a Great Room that lives up to the name. A state of the art kitchen is framed by a waterfall island and a long midcentury dinning table with seating for many. Comfy couches, flatscreens and turn tables, oh my. Vacation homes like this are why people call in sick.
OUTDOOR LIVING SPACES
The backyard is a surprise. Expect to have an almost involuntary reaction. Bougainvillea flowers and vines frame the 270 degree mountain views. The large yard is filled with every imaginable kind of lounging option.
On a hot day, there’s nothing quite like taking a dip in the brand new pool. Or maybe the round daybed has your name on it. (Whoever came up with the adjustable cover that blocks the sun perfectly was a genius).
Now, this is a big planet. And there are some truly amazing places to watch the Sun set. Like Hawaii. And the Caribbean. But a Palm Springs sunset deserves an Honorable Mention with beams of color radiating behind the mountains, the Moon rising early, and all the colors striking against the mountain silhouettes. If you’re a great griller, good for you. But in the event you make a mistake, nobody is going to notice. Because the views are just that good.
After dinner, the first decision is, the dishes can wait. Because it’s time to invent a new drink— send us your favorite recipes, and we’ll share them with others— and sip it next to the fire pit. Nearby, you can hear the burble of the fountain. Two couches surround the fire pit, with enough room for everyone, as they strive for marshmallow perfection. This is the perfect place to discuss all the things you may get around to, tomorrow. No judgments. You’re on vacation, after all.
INDOOR LIVING SPACES
The owners spent months (more than that) transforming Hey Sugar into a place that anyone would love to stay. King beds? Flat screens aplenty? Luxurious showers? Game room? Absolutely.
The living room feels open and inviting, with room for the entire posse. The large L-shaped couch was something is the perfect place to watch that good movie. Or even better, a great bad movie. Alternatively, you can stare out the windows at the (wait for it) breathtaking view.
Vinyl LPs are a big thing in the Home owner’s family. So they made sure to add a record player to Hey Sugar. And, of course, every vacation deserves a good book, which is why there is a comprehensive library of favorite reads.
The game room is the most recent addition. There’s another comfortable couch (actually a sofabed), along with more chairs, a pool table, shuffleboard table and host of other games. There’s also another big TV, which is just the thing every group needs. Observers can do the play by play from the many comfortable barstools.
Whenever hunger comes calling, you’ll be thankful to have a modern, fully furnished kitchen. In candor, Hey Sugar is fully equipped - there are so many knives, you’d think it’s a Wusthof showroom. There’s a giant blender. A rice cooker. Three ways to make coffee. Roughly a trillion kitchen gadgets, including that one that does that thing. Bottom line: unless you are coming straight from the kitchen of a Michelin-starred restaurant, you are going to love working in the kitchen.
Like most midcentury homes in Palm Springs, Hey Sugar is not sprawling. But there are still nearly a dozen places to gather and eat. From the island, to the main dining table, to the game room, and many more outside. Where, as we may have mentioned once or twice, the views are quite nice.
SLEEPING QUARTERS
The three stunning bedrooms here are sunny and modern. Each has distinctive looks and personalities. All of the rooms feature king-sized beds, framed against some I-haven’t-seen-that-before wallpaper selections. The primary suite also has a gorgeous ensuite bathroom, complete with a double vanity, walk-in shower, elegant tiling, and multiple shower heads. There’s also a sliding glass door which offers great views and direct access to the yard and pool.
All bedrooms feature flat screen TVs (just the thing when there’s been too much of a good thing.)
The second bathroom also features a gorgeous walk in shower, as well as changing and laundry facilities, and a long double vanity with backlit mirror. A good looking room. Just the place to look good.
THE LOCATION
Los Compadres. Once upon a time, this area was filled with horses and stables. Today, there are still a couple of stables. Mostly, it’s a quiet oasis located in southern Palm Springs, refreshingly walkable, with parks and paths galore. This neighborhood is known for its quiet, family-friendly atmosphere, making it ideal for couples, friends and families looking for a tranquil stay in paradise. Shopping could not be more convenient, with all kinds of options just a few blocks away.
Demuth Park is also just a few minutes away by car, with many public trails. It’s the pickleball center of Palm Springs. Sunrise Park is also nearby, with a wide array of outdoor activities, including the Palm Springs Swim Center. Further afield, there’s…everything, which is why we all love the desert.
