This impressive 3,000+ square foot home is elegant in its simplicity and high-style in its design. A part of Palm Springs history, this home captures the hip and sophisticated Palm Springs vibe of yesteryear - reinterpreted for the way we live today. It was originally constructed (circa 1954) for Mr. & Mrs. Cecil C. Hutchens by the iconic builder Robert C. Higgins (of Sunmor fame) from architectural plans by Donald Wexler & Rick Harrison. During the recently completed and extensive remodel, the current owners honored the architectural integrity of the property - while creating a space that is very next-century. They preserved the slump stone walls, floor to ceiling walls of glass, concrete floors, kidney shaped pool and the luxurious feel of a mini-estate made for entertaining. They added modern conveniences like hi-speed internet access, five flat screen televisions, an updated energy efficient heating and cooling system, the latest in plumbing fixtures and appliances, sleek contemporary furnishings, a locally inspired art collection, and all the other amenities that make this the quintessential vacation paradise.
THE LIVING SPACES
This home has been carefully planned for entertaining, relaxing and spending quality time with your travel companions. The impressive open floor plan provides an upscale yet comfortable space for your entire group to spread out in style. The oversized kitchen is open to the dining area with its modern farmhouse table that accommodates up to 10-12 guests. The adjacent living room has ample seating, a flat screen television, and a two-sided fireplace. Both the front and back of the common areas feature walls of glass - blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor living in true Palm Springs style.
THE SLEEPING QUARTERS
Like an upscale boutique hotel, all five sleeping quarters have been beautifully decorated and feature hospitality-quality mattresses. There are two master bedrooms and three additional guest rooms. The first master has a king bed, a flat screen television, a full bath, a walk in closet and direct pool access. The second master is a true suite with its sitting area, flat screen television, king bed, double closet, and full bath with both a shower and tub, and direct pool access. Bedrooms three and four share a common bath, have king-sized beds, ample storage and flat screen televisions. The fifth bedroom, with its queen bed, offers flexibility to serve as part of the second master suite or can be used as a separate bedroom via its own exterior poolside entrance. When used as a separate bedroom, guests can either access the adjacent master bath or share the common bath with the other two king-sized guest rooms. The home also has a separate powder room off the living areas.
This property captures the magic of Southern California glamour. While the entire home is gorgeous - the outdoors are truly its crowning jewel. Enjoy majestic mountain views over the slump stone privacy walls, a fabulous saltwater pool with tanning deck (great for sunning or a play space for little ones), a hot tub, a firepit, a barbecue and a round table for alfresco dining. You'll find poolside chaise lounges, a hammock, a place to play basketball - and lots of private courtyards - perfect for curling up with a good book or just experiencing some quiet downtime alone.
The home is nestled on a beautiful parcel in Deepwell Estates, a neighborhood forever associated with the Hollywood legends who have lived here "behind the gates". Today, Deepwell Estates continues its legacy as one of our most sought after neighborhoods.
