Palm Springs Realtors Double Fundraising Goals For 2016

Palm Springs, California – Local REALTORS® have set new fundraising goals for supporting desert charities. Their goal is to double the amount of money they raised last year. The Board of the Palm Springs Regional Association of REALTORS® (PSRAR) has projected that they will raise $85,000 to benefit Well in the Desert, Desert Escrow Scholarship Fund, Boys and Girls Club of America and Sanctuary Palm Springs in 2016.

According to PSRAR Board President, Jim Webb, the Association’s Special Events Committee will continue its Close to Home Community Giving Program by hosting a series of auctions, raffles, drives and events designed to raise awareness and funds for those in need locally. Since 2008, the PSRAR Close to Home Community Giving Program has raised over $150,000 to support its local charities.

“Last year alone we raised over $42,000,” explained Webb. “For 2016 we are doubling our pledge. We are committed to raising $85,000 by December. We have bigger goals than ever because the Palm Springs Real Estate business is strong with a lot of activity. As our desert cities have grown and prospered – so has the Palm Springs Real Estate community. We have the most active membership that we have had in decades. Our committees are stronger and our members are more dedicated to giving back to the community than ever before.”

Next in the PSRAR upcoming series of fund raising events is The Spring Fling Auction, scheduled for Wednesday, March 23 to be held at The Saguaro Hotel and begins at 8:00 am sharp. During the event, PSRAR REALTOR® Members and Affiliates will open heartedly bid on auction items. The more prizes that are donated – the more money will be raised for those in need.

“This year, more than ever we need the support of our local businesses,” said Debra Comer of Acme House Company, who Co-Chairs the PSRAR Special Events Committee with Brian Loth of Orange Coast Title. “In the past, we have relied on donations from regular supporters like Palm Springs Life magazine, The Saguaro, The Desert Sun, and Nostalgia Palm Springs.   The list of past participants is long and we appreciate all the generosity. This year, our members have been out in full force knocking on doors and ringing the phones of every business in the Coachella Valley. Gift certificates to local restaurants and shops are always very popular as are goody baskets from local stores, art work, and event tickets. Services like salon visits, poolside massage, and yoga classes also help to raise funds.”

The prize was donated by Acme House Company.

We are just hoping our local businesses and service providers will be even more generous and supportive than they have been in the past.” said Ms. Comer. “Our REALTOR® and Affiliate Members have upped our commitment to supporting these four charities. But we need the help of the entire community. Not only is this a good way for local businesses to help raise money for charity – but it is also a great way to introduce your business to the local real estate community — or to thank the local real estate community for their ongoing patronage.”

Acme Tops List of Locals Who Bring Joy to the World

Palm Springs, CA -We always love good press! Especially from respected publications like Palm Springs Life Magazine, who knows how hard we work to make our guests feel at home. The team at Acme House Co. is all about helping our visitors live like locals. We think that’s a big part of the Palm Springs experience and one of the main reasons people choose to stay at our luxury Vacation Home Rentals….especially during the holidays.

Acme House Co. offers Christmas Trees for their Palm Springs Vacation Homes

In a recent Palm Springs Life article, June Allan Corrigan calls out the local companies who are going the extra mile to bring joy to the world this holiday season.  Acme is honored to be on the top of the list. In addition to offering special all-inclusive Vacation Home rental packages for Chanukah, Christmas, and New Years,  Acme is providing some optional extra perks like decorated Christmas Trees and Menorahs (with battery operated candles – we don’t do traditional candles in our homes for safety reasons). We’re even offering to send our resident Merry Maker – Santa himself – to stop by for a visit. The optional holiday add ons are available for all vacation homes reserved by 12/20/15.

LAST MINUTE HOLIDAY SPECIALS: 3-Night All Inclusive Packages

According to our Reservations Manager, Ken Hudnall, Acme House Company only has about a dozen vacation home rentals available for Christmas and six or seven homes that can still be rented for New Years. “Right now, we are 76% percent sold out for Christmas and 93% sold out for New Years. Most of the properties that are still available were just added to our portfolio in the past week or two. So there are still some very nice properties available,” explained Mr. Hudnall. “Typically at this time of year, we have a five-night minimum for renting our properties. Since most of the hotels in the area are nearly sold out and visitors are making a mad dash for rooms, we have lowered our minimum stay for the holidays to just three nights. It’s our way of giving back.”

Palm Springs experience
Glass and Steel House 2012 – Recently rejoined the Acme House Co. Portfolio of Palm Springs Vacation Homes

Rent prices for 3 and 4 bedroom homes through Acme House Co. range from $425 to $750 per night on average.  These rates make vacation rental homes comparable to the cost of a hotel stay when traveling with friends and family. In many cases, the stay is more affordable than even a bargain hotel if the group needs three to five bedrooms to accommodate everyone.

But this is our way of giving back. We make it affordable for families and groups of friends to come to the Festival of Lights by offering this special two night package. ”

By taking advantage of Acme’s special you can spend the day poolside at your vacation home, then stroll down to Palm Canyon Drive to be in the midst of local holiday fun.  It’s an all-around great holiday vibe event – a must if you have the chance. Movie Poster Exhibit Ends Sunday

Final Showing At Lot 58 Auctions & Shops

Closing Event Sunday – 3:00 – 5:00 PM – 11/22/2015 – Free Admission

EMP-22X28-PalmSpringWeekend-halfs-X2

PALM SPRINGS, CA – All good things must come to an end.  Lot 58 Auctions & Shops will host the final showing of the visiting Vintage Movie Poster Exhibit & Sale, this Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.  The special installation features the private collection of Nostalgia Palm Springs. Originally, the three week limited engagement  was scheduled to close right after Palm Springs Pride Weekend. The success of the show prompted curator John-Patrick and Lot 58 management to extend the run through the end of the month.

The Vintage Movie Poster Exhibit & Sale pays tribute to mid-century Hollywood and its impact on Palm Springs. Each of the 40 original, rare mid-century movie posters on display features stars who either lived in or spent a lot of time in Palm Springs. Nostalgia Palm Springs has done the research to connect each celebrity to the exact home they owned or stayed at while in town.

Film posters of this era (1950-1975) were returned to the distributor after each movie then sent on to the next theater again and again. They often stayed in circulation for several years. As a result, many vintage film posters were badly worn. Those posters not returned were likely thrown away by the theater owner. Only a hand-full of some titles remain today. Most of the posters on display at Lot 58 are original (not modern reproductions) that were used during the heyday of Hollywood. Many show the signs of age that make them unique.

Visitors to the Vintage Movie Poster Exhibit can expect to  see official movie posters and lobby cards for mid-century classics like Palm Springs Weekend, Butterfield 8 starring Elizabeth Taylor, and the Long Long Trailer starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. The Vintage Movie Poster Exhibit also features posters for movies headlined by those who made Palm Springs their home like Liberace, Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope and Elvis Presley.

If You Go: Tell Kathy & Kevin that Acme House Co. sent you. No charge for admission. Plan on spending 40 minutes to an hour viewing the Vintage Movie Poster Exhibit. This will also be your opportunity to preview the mid-century modern furnishings, art and other decorative items that have been arriving in preparation for the next Lot 58 Auction to be held on November 28th at 5:00 pm. Lot 58 Auctions & Shops / 358/364 S. Indian Canyon, Palm Springs.

Hidden in plain sight in the Uptown Design District, this “very open” shop is run by the warm and friendly couple Wil and Molly.  They have an eye for design and business – and it shows in how they’ve merchandised the store.  Lots of bright and bold color, groovy pattern on pattern prints, and dozens of casual shirts that some how read as “appropriately dressy” …at least when you’re out and about in Palm Springs. Wil and Molly are totally tuned-in to Palm Springs style. Follow their lead and people will be mistaking you for a local.
